SEVEN members of the Hucknall-based EDGEWOOD JUDO CLUB covered themselves in glory when competing in the East Midlands Airport Nottinghamshire Youth Games.
For they all won medals and qualified to represent the Nottinghamshire county squad. The annual games, run by Notts County Council, bring together hundreds of youngsters in a variety of sports.

But Edgewood bossed the judo – thanks largely to Sam Watson, Oliver Bramley and Emma Smith, all of whom won gold medals.

Watson won all three of his contests with maximum scores inside only EIGHT seconds to take the 7th-mon-(orange belt)-and-above, under-42kg category.

Bramley also won all three of his contests with maximum scores to lift the 7th-mon-and-above, under-34kg category.

While Smith took both her contests with maximum scores in the under-12s' under-50kg category.

The other four members of the Edgewood team also did well. Kyle Raison won two of his three contests to take the silver medal in the novice-to-6th-mon (yellow belt), under-42kg category, while Joseph Astbury won two of his three contests to take silver in the 7th-mon-and-above, under-34kg category.

Bronze medals went to Nina Howells in the 7th mon and above, over-50kg section and James Morgan in the 7th-mon-and-above, under-42kg section.
